Kris is an ex radio DJ and former resident DJ in multiple Nightclub’s throughout NZ over the years. He has been with Sounzgood since 1999 as one of the original DJ’s we had. He left in 2013 and has come back to the business he loves in 2024 to continue with his passion fulltime. He is very lively and loves to ensure his guests have an amazing night.
Q & A With Kris
What was your first ever DJ gig?
My first DJ gig was when my mum was a teacher at a primary school in Hamilton. She knew I loved music and asked if I would do the music for the School gala they had. So I grabbed all our stereo speakers, my dual tape deck and a microphone and we went off. There was around 400 people there, I had 8 speakers and a great time. And its been all go since then.
What is the most memorable event you have played at?
The one that always sticks in my head was when we were asked to host and do music for the Annual Sheep Shearing in Te Kuiti. There was so many people from all over the world and of all age groups that came together for a night of fun. To see so many people having such a blast and some music you would have never thought of playing at most functions, but the night was a huge success and have been back numerous times since.
What do you enjoy most when you MC an event or wedding?
I enjoy the fact that everyone at the event no matter the type, can sit back and relax and know that I have it under control. From being easily able to break the ice, to the formalities of the night – I like to ensure that everyone is involved and having a great laugh at the same time, even if its at my expense.
